My Computer then Control Panel.
Double-click
on the Dial-Up Networking icon and then Make New Connection.
This
will open the Dial-up Networking Wizard. Configure as follows.
Type
a name for the computer you are dialing: free0845
Select a device: Select your modem from the drop-down menu
Note: Standard 56000 bps V90 Modem is the default setting.
Click
Next.
Area
Code: 0845
Telephone number if using standard modem connection: 0551800
Telephone number if using ISDN connection: 0551805
Click
Next then Finish.
In
the Dial-Up Networking window, click on the free0845
connection with your right mouse button and select Properties
with your left mouse button.
Configure
as follows.
Area
code: 0845
Telephone
number if using standard modem connection: 0551800
Telephone number if using ISDN connection: 0551805
Use
area code and Dialling Properties: Unchecked
Connect
using: Select your modem
If
you are on a LAN (Local Area Network), you should consult with your
Network Administrator before going any further, as changing the
numbers in this section could result in the loss of your LAN connectivity.
Click
the Networking tab.
Type
of Dial-Up Server: PPP: Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME
Allow
network protocols: TCP/IP
Note: All the other boxes must be unticked.
Click
TCP/IP Settings...
Server
Assigned IP Address: Checked
Primary DNS: 217.72.171.53
Secondary DNS: 217.72.171.56
Use IP header compression: Checked
Use default gateway on remote network: Checked
Click
OK and then the Security Tab.
User
name: free0845
Password: free0845
Connect automatically: Checked
Click
the Dialling tab.
This
is the default Internet connection: Checked
Always dial my default connection: Checked
Note: free0845 will always be used as your Internet connection.
You can also enable Dial-up Networking to disconnect if idle for
a specified time.
Your
Windows ME setup is now complete.
